One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls are a magnificent spectacle. Known to the natives as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders) the Victoria Falls is the biggest sheet of water fall in the world.
It falls out of the great Zambezi River, which forms part of the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It's the Zambezi that caters to some of the most extreme outdoor activities in the world, with the major base of actions organized and ran from Livingstone, a town 10km from the falls and the former capital of Zambia.
Named after the very first European to find and name the Victoria Falls - David Livingstone - Livingstone is a bustling town full of backpackers, volunteers and holiday makers. It's the gateway to the Victoria Falls and all the actions it generates.
Victoria Falls - Go on a road around the face of the falls to see them in all of their glory. There's a little fee to get into the road, but it's the ideal location to take those incredible photos. It is, however, also a baboon refuge and these powerful animals wont be unwilling to come directly up to you and grab your lunch straight out your palms. The ideal thing to do is stand your ground and imitate throwing a rock. If you show fear they will bully you. Should they get violent, do not hesitate to hand over any food and visit the nearest safe building. Do not worry - 100's of thousands of individuals visit annually and there are very few instances of baboon strikes.
White Water Rafting - The mighty Zambezi river is considered as one of the best rapid runs on the planet. It is made of 25 hair raising rapids, such as one class 6 (all holiday excursions allow you to walk round this one). The rafting adventures are conducted very professionally using a large and experienced team. Most also offer photography and professional filming readily available for purchase following the wild encounter. This is 1 experience you'll never forget!
Bungee Jump - The 3rd largest bungee jump in the world! From the bridge that connects Zambia and Zimbabwe, free autumn the 111m gaining a very distinctive view of the drops! Only for the brave! Minimum age is 14 years old.
